As the saying goes “Weekends are made for fun.” Well, if you are planning to spend this weekend in Dubai, fun is all you will get! The city will offer you plenty to do and see. Whether you are into art, sports, fashion or music, you will enjoy two days of bliss.
Before all, you can do something practical this weekend by visiting GETEX 2015. The biggest venue for learners in the Gulf will once again gather education institutions and students to discuss higher education and career paths. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, make sure you stop by Dubai World Trade Centre this Friday.
You can also celebrate the weekend by visiting some of the many art exhibitions in Dubai. Over the next couple of days, there will be at least two art-focused events in the city that deserve your attention. The first is Dubai Dollar Project: Heroe$ & Villain$. The exhibit opened this Wednesday in Rira Gallery. However, it will run for a few more days. The exhibition is hosted by the chief of Dollarsandart program, Jim Wheat and everyone can visit it for free.
Also free is Ladies In Paint Art Exhibition, which you can see at Z Gallerie, Four Points by Sheraton. It shows contemporary portrait paintings of famous women by artist Susan Brooker. Don’t worry if you don’t find the time of this event over the weekend, since the exhibition will be open until June 15.
Another exciting event this weekend in Dubai is the Global Fighting Championship. Why exciting? Well, this time the tournament will feature a great lineup of athletes, like Gokhan Saki, Sebastian Ciobanu, Steve McKinnon, Zabit Samedov and many others. Tickets for the championship start at AED 200. Series 3 of the event will be organized on April 17 (Friday), at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.
If you prefer to participate in sports activities instead of being in the audience, you should consider participating in The Sand Pit. This is a 10k obstacle challenge that is not for everyone, but it is an interesting test for one’s body, character and teamwork abilities. The event will be held at Al Barari this Friday. Those wishing to participate in it will need to pay an entry fee of AED 310. However, the fee jumps to AED 360 for a late entry. Therefore, go and sign up today.
Again in Friday, you can treat yourself with classical music sounds. The World Classical Music Series, which enjoyed huge success last year, will return this weekend together with violinist Jozef Lendavya and the Lendvay and Friend ensemble. Those, who prefer music they can dance to, can go to Piknic Electronik Dubai. The special thing about this electronic music festival is that it is family-friendly and it is organized during the day. The lineup for this year includes names like MANIK, My Favourite Robot and Arcade 82. Tickets start at AED 130 and kids under 12 get a free entry.
Fashionistas who will spend the weekend in the emirate should not overlook En Vogue by AJK. This exhibition will feature fashion items, accessories and couture pieces from many celebrity fashion designers. When – this Saturday! Where – at The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC!
Charge your smartphone or camera, because this weekend in Dubai is worth capturing on camera!
