Artists, designers, musicians, and concept retailers from all over the world are coming in Dubai this weekend for Dubai Design District’s unique event “Meet d3”. But you don’t have to be an art lover to get out and have fun this weekend, as the city has a lot more to offer, from family-friendly outdoor events and theatre plays to dining experiences and night parties.
If you are wondering where to take the kids, Children’s City at the Creek Park has several fun shows for them this spring. From 1st until 4th April, you can see Detective Conan. Just head to Creek Park Gate 1 and prepare AED 10 for kids’ admission and AED 15 for every adult.
The art season is still running and there are plenty of exhibitions across Dubai, but one of the most impressive and exclusive one is The Nobel Museum’s travelling exhibition “Ideas Changing The World”. Free to the public, it introduces the highly esteemed award and the ways it reshaped the world in several decades. There will be five distinct pavilions with five different themes, which will educate and engage the audience with discussions about natural sciences and culture. The event will be held for a month at the Burj Khalifa’s Annex, left of the entrance of Armani Hotel.
One of the most anticipated consumer technology and gadget show is also taking place this weekend. The spring edition of GITEX Shopper kicks off on Wednesday at Dubai World Trade Centre and will run for four days.

Broadway musical “Annie” comes to Dubai’s Madinat Theatre on Thursday and will be on stage for 16 days. The award-winning production will feature all the classic songs, including “Maybe”, “Tomorrow”, “Easy Street”, “Hard Knock Life”, all the amazing costumes, fantastic sets, and the cast and orchestra from London’s West End. It’s a must-see show for the whole family, but you should know tickets are AED 200 – AED 250.
On Friday, Atlantis the Palm will host the second season of “Fashion Victims” 2015. The stylish event will include catwalk shows, exhibition ballroom, interactive workshops and industry talks, exclusive designers show room, as well as The Middle East Fashion Awards Dinner and an official after party. Entry is exclusive and requires online registration.
And here’s another exclusive show – UK’s sensation One Direction arrives for its first concert in Dubai and the region, although the guys are already only four after Zayn Malik announced his departure from the band last week. Still, thousands of fans will gather at The Sevens Stadium for a chance to see their idols. Tickets to show are already sold out, but ask around if you like teen pop boy bands.
Dubai Design District is now organizing a public event from 2nd to 4th April, which takes places at d3 and includes a variety of art and design exhibitions, dining experiences and music performances. Entitled “Meet d3”, the event will feature amazing culinary highlights and talents from the food and wine industry, fashion discussions, showcases, and retailers, interior designers, artists, artisans, accessory and lifestyle retailers, and many others. In addition, on Thursday, visitors at “Meet 3D” will be able to see British pop/soul singer John Newman.
On Thursday evening, don’t miss the premiere of “Furious 7” in Dubai cinemas. The latest installment of the Fast & Furious movies stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludakris, and of course the late Paul Walker.
