Trends You Can Expect to See at GITEX Shopper Spring


The spring edition of GITEX Shopper is about to kick off on April 1. One of the biggest IT and consumer electronics events in the region will once again bring the hottest newly-released gadgets to Dubai. There are a number of other trends visitors will recognise at GITEX Shopper Spring. Usually, the tendencies from earlier-held global consumer electronics exhibitions, like International CES and MWC, predict most of the trends at GITEX Shopper.

Mobile Payment

After Apple introduced its Apple Pay mobile payment system, other technology companies decided to unveil alternatives platforms. Earlier this year, during the Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced a similar system called Samsung Pay. GITEX Shopper will serve as a natural continuation to this trend. However, companies will not introduce payment systems, but gadgets, accessories and new features for them. Still, while only few of them will be fully functional on the territory of the United Arab Emirates.


This is the hottest gadget trend in 2015! Therefore, it is a safe bet to say wearables will have a heavy presence at the upcoming edition of GITEX Shopper. Furthermore, they will offer amazing diversity and are likely to span over product categories such as smartwatches, fitness bands, apparel… there may even be Virtual Reality headsets to try on.

Smart Living

The one trend that has already been confirmed for GITEX Shopper Spring 2015 are smart living devices. This year, the event will feature an entire smart living section. This means that many of coffee markets, refrigerators and air conditioners you will see during the exhibition will be able to connect to the web or to your mobile devices. Nevertheless, if you intend to shop for smart home technology, prepare for some heavy spending! Smart living products are still very expensive.

Flagship Smartphones

Newly released flagship smartphones, like HTC One M9, Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, will lure GITEX Shopper visitors from every corner. Expect various offers and exclusive services that come with these gadgets. Moreover, if you are among the early-birds, you may even be able to score a bargain deal on some of these handsets.

Tablet Not Dead Yet

In spite of the global tablet decline, the Middle East and North Africa region is still a profitable market when it comes to tablet PCs. The demand in for tablet devices in MENA and in the United Arab Emirates is still going strong. As a result, a number of technology companies, like Dell, will use GITEX Shopper Spring to introduce their latest tablet PCs to consumers in the region.

GITEX Shopper Spring 2015 will run between April 1-4 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Everyone who attends to event will also get the chance to participate in one of the many raffles and win great hi-tech prizes.
