On Tuesday, the travel website released the 2015’s list of the best global destinations announced its Traveler’s Choice awards for the top destinations across the world. Based on users’ reviews and rankings on the website, the list includes a total of 469 places, while the best of the best are gathered in the top 25 destinations, showing the travelers’ preferences and impressions from a city’s hotels, attractions, transport, food, culture, entertainment, and so on.

Ranked 24th in the world, Dubai attracts millions of tourists each year with some of the most amazing architectural wonders, with Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world), the Burj Al Arab (the only “7-star” hotel), and the Palm Island (the largest artificial island) among them. Although Dubai is located in the heat of the Arabian desert, it’s one of the most modern cities on Earth. When asked “Which Dubai experience do you want to discover?”, half of the travelers say it’s the Miracle Garden they would like to visit the most, as its very collection of 45 million flowers is simply staggering. And of course, the other half vote for the Burj Khalifa, which offers breathtaking views of the city.

However, Dubai dropped from its 17th position in 2014 and the reasons may be a lot, but one of them, certainly is the emergence of other places as popular travel destinations for this year. Interestingly, the biggest or the brightest cities on Earth are not the most preferred by tourists – with its rich historical heritage, ancient culture and the and serenity of old mosques, Morocco’s Marrakesh climbed five spots from last year to the top position in 2015. Second on the list is Cambodia’s Siem Reap, which has raised in popularity because of the amazing temples and ruins of Angkor Wat, while for the third place travelers have voted for Istanbul – the place where Europe meets Asia in a beautiful mixture of cultures, peoples, religions, architectural styles, traditions and modern nightlife.

So, whether you are looking for inspiration for your next vacation, or want to see if your home city is as much attractive to tourists as it is to you, check the top 25 global destinations in 2015:
