On December 2, the United Arab Emirates is marking the 43rd anniversary of its founding with a rich programme of mega events, designed to honor the founders of the country and to entertain and engage citizens and expats.

This year, the National Day weekend will start from Friday, November 28, and it will last until Wednesday, as official celebrations at the capital will run for four days starting Sunday. Besides fireworks, residents and guests of the UAE will witness a host of events, from street parades and parties to charity initiatives, competitions, and even Dubai’s attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest flower flags ever made. Of course, one of the most significant and certainly quite a spectacular event will be the UAE National Day Parade at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.

For twelve days, starting November 21, the 7 Emirates Run will gather seven teams of seven runners each, who will run through all seven emirates for a noble cause. The event, which is also commemorating UAE’s 43rd anniversary in its final leg from Sharjah to Dubai, will raise funds in support of disabled children. Dubai’s residents may not be able to view the whole event, as the total kilometers completed will be 575, but they can see the best of the race at its finale on December 2 at Burj Khalifa.

Although the official holiday programme has not yet been announced, a host of events and festivals will be held to commemorate the occasion and highlight the cultural and historical heritage of the UAE. One of them will be Dubai Airports Dates Festival, which of course, draws the attention to the date – the fruit, which has proved itself as an integral part of the Emirati cuisine and culture. It will run from 26th November till 1st December at Terminal 3.

On Friday, 28th, November, residents in Dubai will enjoy Dubai Grand Parade 2014, which will showcase a fantastic lineup of ultra luxury, modern, classic and vintage cars and bikes at Meydan Racecourse. You can also watch the final round of Dubai Kardrome Endurance Championship 2014 at Dubai Autodrome at Motor City. The UAE National Day Parade will be held on Saturday, November 29, along with many other events, among which is the most colourful and probably the happiest running competition in the world – the Colour Run. At the starting line participants at Autodrome City will need to be dressed in white and by the time they finish, they’ll be covered in all colours of the rainbow.

These are just some of the events and festivities, planned for the 43rd UAE National Day. Make sure to check us regularly for more updates.
