The Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment unveiled this year’s calendar for the three-month “Summer Is Dubai”, a season bursting with festivals, celebrations and promotions to entertain residents and millions of tourists heading to the emirate. Starting with the popular venue for the whole family, the Modesh World, the summer festival aims to enhance Dubai’s image as a top summer destination.
“Summer Is Dubai” kicks off on 15th June and will continue through 6th September, offering visitors and residents of the city a remarkable experience with a rich calendar of cultural celebrations and shopping promotions. The initiative is launched by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. Starting at the beginning of the summer school holiday, the event will offer exiting activities for the children and lucrative offers for their parents.
Modesh World will open doors at the Dubai World Trade Center on 15th June. There will be plenty of entertainment, games, workshops, and classes specially designed for the little ones. The fun at Modesh will run up until September, when kids will have to come back to school.
Besides pure entertainment, “Summer Is Dubai” is also offering a great opportunity to get to the heart of Arabian culture. Ramadan in Dubai and Eid in Dubai will start a little earlier this year. The Ramadan observation will be from 29th June to 27th July and will include several cultural activities highlighting the importance of the Islamic Month. It will feature the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, the Ramadan Tents and the Ramadan Forum. Eid in Dubai will take place from 28th July to 1st August, 2014 and will include musical concerts and family-friendly activities.
The season concludes with the 17th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises, which starts on 2nd August and ends on 6th September. It will feature tons of shopping promotions and activities, lots of prizes and offers and world-class events that promise to turn the richest shopping experience in the world into a truly unforgettable one.
The three-month “Summer Is Dubai” initiative will not only boost the growth in the retail and tourism sectors in the emirate, but it will also pour millions of dirhams into the economy, say experts. This will also impact the economic state of the country and its international image as a top tourist destination.
