Dubai FrameMore details emerged on the Dubai Frame project. What was known about the futuristic construction was that it would be build in Dubai’s Zabeel Park and it would have a height of 150 meters. According to the latest information on the project, it will also have a see-through glass walkway.

The news were shared by Mohammed Mashroom, Dubai Municipality’s head of projects, during the Construction Week UAE Infrastructure Summit 2014. What is particularly interesting about the walkway is that it will be elevated at 150 meters. In other words, this means it would be located right at the top of the structure.

As you can imagine, this height and the location of the construction would offer a great panoramic view of the city. Well, maybe not as great as that offered by Burj Khalifa. Still, the brave visitors who wish to climb on top of the structure would have the chance to see some of Dubai from a brand new angle. Among the part of the city that will be visible from the Dubai Frame walkway will be Karama, Deira, as well as Umm Harair. Mashroom added that those who are not afraid to look directly under their feet, would be able to enjoy some amazing views of greenery.

The idea for the Dubai Frame project was born a few years ago, thanks to an international architecture competition. The construction is set to look like a giant picture frame.

Through it, residents and visitors of the city would be able to see all the landmarks that have turned into Dubai’s trademarks. Those include Burj Khalifa and Emirates Towers, as well as the city’s older areas.

However, Mohammed Mashroom shared that the location of the construction was not selected only on the basis of pretty view. He explains that Dubai Municipality has to conduct detailed tests and studies of the geology and structure of the land.

The construction works on the Dubai Frame kicked off last December. As owner of the project, Dubai Municipality assures that it would be ready by 2015. Its cost is estimated at AED 120 million or $32.6 million. Nevertheless, it is not clear whether the municipality would also take on the task to operate the facility.
