The Eid Al Adha holiday will start with Arafat Day, the day before the start of Eid. The religious day would be Monday, October 14 and will be followed by three days of Eid. This is scheduled according to a calendar posted by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai.

Employees of government institutions will be able to enjoy six days of holiday, because of the weekend following the four days of holiday.

The Abu Dhabi Government has marked October 14 as Arafat Day and the day after as Eid Al Adha in its holiday calendar, posted on its website, but the list does not mention when the holidays will end.

The Ministry of Labour will decide how long private-sector workers will have off, but it will probably be shorter than government employees receive.

The ministry usually makes its announcement closer when Eid Al Adha holidaynear. However, people who plan to travel abroad during the Eid Al Adha holiday may start planning their trips and even get advantage on early bird offers, such as the current Qatar Airways airfares deals.

In previous years, private-sector employees received three days off for Arafat Day and Eid, compared with four days for Government employees. Bank staff holidays are decided by the Central Bank.
