The award winning and internationally renowned Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is set to charm the globe yet again, flaunting not only his acting abilities but also demonstrating his passion and ear for music. The inspirational actor who’s also collaborated with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg confirms why he’s Bollywood’s finest.
The special track “Mujh Mein Tu”, which Akshay has dedicated to his wife Twinkle Khanna, was produced to promote the forthcoming film ‘Special Chabbis’ which is based on true accounts and releasing on 8th February 2013. Akshay Kumar explores different genres of both film and music for his new cutting-edge film and reveals his softer side with the romantic track.
“He heard the original song and loved it so much that he started humming while we were shooting it. That’s when we decided to get him to sing a mellow version of the same song and use it as a promotional video.” says director Neeraj Pandey.
“Mujh Mein Tu” illustrates the love connection of a ruthless and brilliant jewellery stealing criminal mastermind Akshay’s character ‘Mon Singh’ and his love interest, a school teacher played by the female protagonist Kajal Aggarwal who is also said to be a huge fan of Akshay’s work. The song expresses vulnerability and emotion and takes you on a journey both lyrically and through Akshay’s delivery. Pandey also adds “He was dedicated and I am sure Akshay will surprise everyone with his rendition.” The heart exposing song is said to contain an honesty that is rare.
Fans of superstar Akshay Kumar are set for a cinematic treat as the ever popular actor moves away from his more usual comedy-action personas to portray a villainous and cunning thief, who leads a pack of “26” hardened criminals in a daring jewellery heist, which sent shockwaves across India. Based on a true story, Akshay’s character ‘Mon Singh’ is said to be based upon real-life, notorious conman Natwarlal, who sold the Taj Mahal in a series of daring scams, before he was stopped.
Special Chabbis is a cleverly scripted and observed gritty drama film, which is based on the real-life events of the infamous Mumbai daylight raid of 19th March 1987 in which an unknown conman posed as CBI officer ‘Mon Singh’ to recruit a band of 26 impostor income tax officials to carry out an audacious robbery on the Opera House branch of Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri in Mumbai, disappearing with precious jewellery worth Lakhs.
Special Chabbis boasts an esteemed supporting cast, which includes Manoj Bajpai (Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, Veer Zaara) Jimmy Shergill (My Name Is Khan), Anupam Kher (The Silver Lining Playbook, Bend It Like Beckham) and relative newcomer to Hindi cinema and the only female protagonist in the film Kajal Aggarwal (Singham).
Special Chabbis will release on 8th February 2013 through Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
