Airline arranges two 777 flights to take fans to the final against Iraq
The one-off flights, a gesture to mark the UAE national team’s performance so far, will depart Dubai tomorrow afternoon (Friday) with the return trips timed after the end of the match.
“We have already taken the initiative to sponsor the Gulf Cup of Nations as we want to contribute to the success of the tournament and while strengthening relationships in the Gulf region,” said His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline & Group.
“We are proud that our national team has reached the final and we wish the best of luck to our players. On this special occasion, we are offering two extra flights tomorrow to fly fans, free of charge, to Bahrain in order to support their team,” added Sheikh Ahmed.
In a further generous gesture, Sheikh Ahmed has agreed to provide a separate First Class flight to the entire UAE squad – in recognition of reaching the final.
The Gulf Cup of Nations final will see the UAE take on Iraq – a country Emirates now serves through three gateways; Baghdad, Basra and more recently, Erbil.
The free flight tickets to Bahrain are being coordinated via the UAE Football Association.
On the day of the match, registered passengers must arrive at the designated airports two hours prior to departure to receive their boarding passes.
Transportation from Bahrain International Airport to the stadium and back to airport will be provided for free flight ticket holders.
