Dubai Hosts the 3rd largest Dental Exhibition in the World

An official press conference was held yesterday at Dubai Press Club to announce the opening dates for AEEDC Dubai 2013. More than 1000 exhibiting companies and 130 international and regional speakers specialized in dentistry and oral health from 70 countries are meeting up at the 3rd largest international dental conference and exhibition in the world.

The 3-day event, which is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, will take place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 5th, 2013.

The press conference was presided by Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of the AEEDC Dubai and The Global Scientific Dental Alliance, in addition to members of the scientific committee Dr. Tariq Khoory, Director of the Dental Department at the Dubai Health Authority and AEEDC’s Honorary Chairman and Dr. Nasser Al Malik, Conference Chairman. A number of representatives from sponsoring organizations and members of the press were also present.

Dr. Al Madani commenced the press conference by welcoming all those present and extending his gratitude to the Dubai Health Authority for their continuous support for AEEDC Dubai under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, and he highlighted the great support that H.H. offered since the 1st edition of AEEDC in 1996, which has greatly contributed to the success of the event and in making it the 3rd largest international dental exhibition in the world as per International Dental Manufacturers. In addition, AEEDC Dubai is the only conference and exhibition that received recognition from the American Dental Association in the Middle East.

Dr. Al Madani added:” This year we are expecting more than 30,000 participants and visitors, this growth in both the number of exhibitors and the space of the exhibition area of AEEDC reflects the strategic position and credibility that Dubai possesses, in addition to AEEDC’s capability of presenting the latest research & technology in this field”.

“AEEDC Dubai emphasizes the integration of various elements of success, in terms of economic, trade, health and tourism which will contribute to the country’s economy in all these sectors as a result of its great financial returns.” Said Dr. Al Madani

“AEEDC Dubai exhibition covers 30,000 Square meters of space, and the number of companies participating in AEEDC this year will reach 1000 companies from 70 countries. More than 60 thousand room nights have been booked and the outcome of the business deals from AEEDC is expected to increase by 15% from the previous year. This is largely due to the increase in budgets allocated by GCC countries towards the health and education sectors”. Concluded Dr. Al Madani.

AEEDC Dubai represents an outstanding opportunity for all dentists and decision makers from the private and public sectors, to purchase necessary equipment and devices displayed by major international companies. Moreover, AEEDC Exhibition will feature 17 national pavilions primarily from: Argentina, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States of America, United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

From his side, Dr. Tariq Khoory, the Director of the Dental Department at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Honorary Chairman of AEEDC Dubai said:” The DHA has always been supporting AEEDC since its early days of inception back in 1996 until this day due to the economic importance of this scientific event. AEEDC serves a vital dental platform not only on a domestic level, but regionally and globally. Under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of the DHA, The DHA is always keen to support all scientific conferences hosted by the great city of Dubai and especially AEEDC because of its significant contribution to dentists in terms of Continuing Dental Education and by providing them with knowledge and the latest technological advancements in the field of Dentistry”.

On his part, Dr. Nasser Al Malik Chairman of AEEDC Dubai Conference said that the AEEDC Scientific Advisory Committee has been working diligently to present new program ideas and provide knowledge that shall add value. “We are introducing new and diverse concepts for AEEDC Dubai 2013; first we have a symposium in ‘Rapid Orthodontics’, a fast developing discipline in Dental Orthodontics. Moreover, we have a dedicated full-day session for Aesthetic Dentistry, having emphasis on various updates and controversies. Both activities will be integrated in the conference program and will have keynote international speakers.” Said Dr. Al Malik.

AEEDC Dubai 2013 will feature a number of intensive scientific activities such as: The GCC Preventive Dentistry Conference, AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses, Poster and Oral Poster Presentations, The 4th AEEDC Student Competition, and The AEEDC Dubai Awards.

AEEDC Advanced Specialty Courses will be running parallel to AEEDC’s Conference and will provide advanced and updated theoretical and methodological approaches. The courses will also provide systematic and comprehensive knowledge on current and different theories, enhance the practical expertise of the dental specialists, build a knowledge platform among qualified specialists across the globe and help them gain extra CME points.

The 10th Global Scientific Dental Alliance Meeting ‘GSDA’ will be hosted once again this year with more than 66 heads/presidents of dental associations, societies and institutions. This annual meeting will lift further knowledge, recommendations and scientific concerns. The GSDA will then provide new ideas and deliberate on vital issues in dentistry, oral health care treatment and continuing education programs.

The 4th AEEDC Student Competition involves the students in an educational intellectual competition, while providing them with incentives to improve themselves. Dr. Al Malik added, “AEEDC Student Competition provides a unique opportunity to all dental students in their last academic year to actively interact with their counterparts from different dental colleges and universities through a face-to-face competition, with a vision of exchanging information, knowledge and expanding their horizons on various issues of dentistry.”

AEEDC Dubai also hosts an Award Ceremony to recognize participants, exhibitors and key figures in the dental world. “AEEDC Dubai Awards were introduced in order to acknowledge the value of continuous learning and innovation and to celebrate the success that we achieved over the past years”. Dr. Al Malik added.

He continued, “The awards vary to cover both the conference and exhibition. Award categories are: AEEDC Dubai Personality of the Year, the Year’s Most Significant Contribution to Oral Health, AEEDC Young Researcher Award, AEEDC Best Speaker Award, Excellence in Clinical Equipment Award, AEEDC Dubai Booth Design Award and AEEDC Dubai Booth Activities Award.”
