Tech giant Samsung announced today it plans to launch a new smartphone called Gaalxy Grand. The new device will be a cheaper version of the popular Galaxy Note 2.
The Korean company’s new mobile phone greatly resembles its predecessor it terms of features. Samsung Galaxy Grand features 1GB or RAM and it runs on dual-core 1.2GHz processor. In addition, its operating system is Android 4.1 which is famous with the name Jelly Bean.
The upcoming smartphone offers some of Samsung’s well-known software functions. Among them is, of course, Smart Alert and multi-window multitasking mode. Also, those who decide to buy Galaxy Grand will have the chance to use the Pop Up Play feature. It enables the watching of videos in a small pop-up window. While this feature is on, users can also use other applications.
So far, everything seems more than great. However, the device has a little downside – its display. Samsung Galaxy Grand does not shine with impressive resolution or image technology. The resolution of this new smartphone is barely 480×800 WVGA. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a breathtaking 720×1280 display. But apart from that, the size of the phone’s screen can compete with some of the top sellers in the market today. Galaxy Grand’s display measures at exactly 5 inches.
Samsung’s new product is only 9.6mm thin. Also, it supporting two SIM cards. The device has two cameras which offer amazing picture quality. The back camera is 8MP and it can shoot 1080p videos. The front one is also pretty impressive with its 2MP.
Like a typical Samsung smartphone, the device will have a pretty big memory capacity both internal and external. The internal memory storage is equal to 8GB and it can increase to up 64GB with a microSD card. That makes a total of 72GB storage capacity.
In addition, Galaxy Grand supports services like Wi-Fi and HSPA+.
There is still no information about the price of the smartphone, but it is said to be a budget-friendly device.
