James Bond thriller Skyfall returned at No#1 at the box office with $ 11 million for Sony Corp., beating Disney’s Lincoln. After three weeks out of the top spot, Agent 007 hit became the first film since How to Train Your Dragon to top the charts for five weeks.

In Sam Mendez’ Skyfall, Daniel Craig returns as Bond, fighting the new villain played by Javier Bardem; we can see amazing Judi Dench as M.

Skyfall became the highest-grossing film in Sony Pictures history of all time, surpassing previous hit Spider-Man 3 with the astonishing $918 million worldwide. In the United States, Skyfall generated $11 million in sales this past weekend and a total of $261.1 million for North America. In the UK, the latest installment of James Bond series succeeded Avatar as the top-grossing film of all time with over $150 million. The movie is actually on its way to make a billion dollars worldwide which will be the first time ever for a James Bond release.

DreamWorks’ holiday-themed animation Rise of the Guardians is currently in second place in the box office with $10.5 million ($145 million total). Although its Santa theme it couldn’t generate huge revenue in the weeks before Christmas and it is expected to go down very quickly, especially after the arrival of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, which had been at the top for three-straight weekends, is now the third entry with $9.2 million, only closely ahead of Disney’s Lincoln with $9.12 million. Surprisingly, at fifth place remains Life of Pi, a fantasy adventure distributed by Twentieth Century Fox.

The box office is about to soar next weekend with arrival of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, part one. The prelude to Lord of the Rings is directed by Peter Jackson and stars incredible Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage and Ken Scott.

Weekend revenue for the top 12 in the box office has increased to $72.9 million from $67.8 million last year, a total of 8%.
