Etisalat to release iPhone 5 plans beginning of October, sources

Staff at iStyle in the Festival City Centre told DubaiChronicle.com’s editor that Etisalat will release plans for iPhone 5 in the beginning of October.

iStyle is one of the authorized Apple products’ retailers in the United Arab Emirates, along with Virgin mega store and few smaller companies.

Apple’s products are between 20% to 25% more expensive at iStyle in comparison to the same offered online at the web’s largest retailer Amazon.com. On the question why so, iStyle staff says that there is a cost involved in shipping the coveted electronics to the country in addition to the customs charges. On the other hand, an advantage for iStyle is that they offer 1 year warranty and repair service or even in some cases replacement. In Dubai, a Macintosh repair technician is not yet a popular job, although with a great potential.

The hotly anticipated next-generation Apple’s device – iPhone 5 – is already available in the U.A.E., but so far the price is much higher than the expected one.

In the United States, the iPhone 5 was released with a similar to the iPhone 4S price tag. This may suggest that the price in Dubai may be around AED2,500 once the device is available with Etisalat.
