A holiday strategy for business marketing
A popular strategy that has been used for many years is to market by using the different holidays as a theme. When you think of ”the holidays,” you may first think of Christmas and only then about Easter, Eid or the Chinese New Year. However, occurring all year round, holidays are fun and a friendly way to reach your customers with smart marketing strategy.
A marketing strategy can include doing a community event or sponsoring something in your neighborhood. Let’s look at the example of the The Dubai Mall. For every holiday occasion, The Dubai Mall hosts large number of activities for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. Both events are often televised on Dubai One TV and very popular with the variety of entertainment on offer. While the customers think of the fun activities for kids held each year, they still keep the Dubai Mall in their minds, as a great place to shop. Being a flagship shopping mall in Dubai, the Dubai Mall also organises community events on a national level, and customers remember them fondly.
You may not be ready to sponsor a big event like the Eid Al Fitr celebration, but you can apply these same techniques to your small or medium-size business. Choose one to four annual holidays and make them “your” holidays for your company. Ideally you would choose holidays that your customers like the best too! It is important to consider who are your customers here! Then do something on these chosen holidays that promotes your business.
Your store can hold a holiday themed sale – this is one of the most popular things to do. Many customers look forward to holiday themed sales. And if they get to know about your biggest sale, held during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, they will remember to shop faithfully during that time.
There are many fun things you can do with your holiday themed sale. If it is a New Year‘s Day sale, you can price items at 20.13 for the 2013 year. Or you could give a 14% discount on Valentine’s Day. Many customers would look forward to and would remember this type of sale.
You can also sponsor a community event during the holidays. Most neighborhood do have Veteran’s Day and Christmas holiday bazaars and activities. In some communities you can sign up for the bazaar, or sponsor one of the participating events – a school band or kid’s musical group.
Another fun choice is to sponsor a sports group. While this doesn’t always coincide with one single specific holiday, your business name will be mentioned during the entire sports season.
Holiday marketing themes are popular and fun. Choose several suitable holidays and try adding this marketing technique to your business!
