Dubai Press Club examines impact of social networking on society
Dubai Press Club (DPC) hosted a panel discussion on the social networking behaviour of the youth and its impact on the society. Titled ‘Youth and Social Networking; Vulnerability and Impact’, the event was held on 30 July at the ‘Al Wasl Majlis’ at Dubai World Trade Centre as part of DPC’s Ramadan activities.
The event saw Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director of DPC, launch an initiative – ‘Conversations: Virtual Agenda’. The inaugural online session scheduled to be held on 2 August at 23:00 hours UAE time is set to host a group of media, writers, and thought leaders from the Arab Region to discuss the role of media in developing social media networking. In addition to allowing virtual participation through DPC accounts on Google+ using Google Hangout, the session will also be broadcast on DPC’s YouTube channel.
DPC’s activities for the Holy Month of Ramadan focus on topics that interest a larger section of the community in an attempt to facilitate the exchange of views and ideas. A variety of events such as workshops, symposia, seminars, and social gatherings feature on the calendar.
