Kapu Forest is the new digital toy box for young kids
Determined to provide fun play and to create smiles, Finnish app developer Kapu Toys emerges as the new digital toy box for kids aged 1–6+
Kapu Toys is the latest creation of five international craftsmen from the world of digital design, development and planning. Together they are focused on making a real difference with their skills and produce enjoyable digital toys for parents and children alike. Tackling this challenge head on, Kapu Toys introduces its first toy Kapu Forest.
In Kapu Forest kids can explore the forest and get to know its animals. Intuitive to use, kids can wander through the forest as the main menu and find exciting surprises along the way. From feeding berries to the hungry fox, to directing the lost mole home and helping the rabbit harvest its carrots each mini-toy promotes fun play, use of cognitive skills and altruistic behaviour.
The idea for Kapu Toys arose in 2011 when the founders of the company noticed that their own little ones had discovered the use of touch-screen devices and were mimicking their actions. After more research they noticed that many smartphone apps didn’t succeed in providing suitable content for young kids.
“Small children are the most creative, honest and demanding audience. They require toys that not only keep them entertained for a while, but which they enjoy playing again and again,” says Tuomas Vanamo, one of the founders of Kapu Toys.
On top of focusing on what kids enjoy, Kapu Toys has taken parents into consideration in developing their games. By introducing the use of parental controls, Kapu Toys gives parents the chance to keep an eye on playtime. Each toy is also dedicated to bring generations together with games and characters everyone will love – the artwork is inspired by 1950′s children’s books and the music by 1960′s cool jazz movement.
“We should all be excited about what these guys produce next, because for a debut app, this is pretty fantastic stuff,” says Liv Siddall, editor at UK based design blog It’s Nice That.
Kapu Toys aims to support kids in taking their first digital steps in a safe environment by avoiding rising levels, time limits and high scores. Kapu Toys creates clever apps that spark the imagination, inspire families to play together and let kids learn along the way!
Kapu Forest is available now on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and on Google Play for Android (v.2.2 and up). Give it a go!
