Abdulrahman Ibrahim, Head of the Dubai Public Library Department, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “Dubai Public Library is at the forefront in strengthening computer literacy through our partnership with ICDL. The Umm Suqeim Electronic Library is working directly under the supervision of the international organisation. The opportunity for trainees to retake their ICDL course will further enable them to focus on enhancing their computer literacy, which is critical today to boost their workplace skills and employment potential.”

Dubai Public Library launched the ICDL centre in 2005, in line with its commitment to instil information technology culture, in turn, strengthening knowledge and awareness of computer studies, based on the international standards outlined by UNESCO.

The ICDL course includes basic training on computers and managing files, as well as training in MS Office including Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint. Any trainee can retake the ICDL course once at the Umm Suqeim Library, which offers seven lessons taught by 24 different instructors.
