Tawdheef Recruitment Show: Careers in banking and finance

  • National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Emirates NBD, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, among major banks using recruitment show to boost Emiratisation initiatives

During the 2012 Tawdheef Recruitment Show, banking and finance companies will be on the lookout for a quick start towards their goals of hitting their Emiratisation targets for the year.

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), and Emirates NBD will be among the headline banks using Tawdheef Recruitment Show taking place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 31 January to 2 February to fill hundreds of positions with suitably qualified Emirati candidates. Both NBAD and ADIB are platinum sponsors at the show.

Europe 4 Joining them will be many other major banks and finance companies looking to increase the percentage of UAE Nationals in their workforces, including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Commercial Bank International, Commercial Bank of Dubai, First Gulf Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, UAE Exchange, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.

Emirates NBD will be looking to add at least 250 UAE Nationals to their employee roster for 2012, following on from a successful year in 2011, when 462 UAE Nationals were recruited after the bank announced it would invest AED50 million in its Emiratisation initiatives.
“Emirates NBD considers Emiratisation a priority issue and continuously creates career opportunities to attract and retain UAE National talent,” said Husam Al Sayed, General Manager for HR at Emirates NBD. “While 2011 was a tough year for some banks and the job market was restricted, we expanded and added to our workforce.”

“At the same time, we remain committed to our strategy of recruiting at least 250 UAE Nationals in 2012, while continuing to develop young, ambitious and talented individuals.”

According to the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) the banking sector in the UAE has one of the highest rates of Emiratisation in the private sector, at 35.4 per cent. All indications are that this will likely increase in 2012, reinforced by the large number of banks taking part at Tawdheef Recruitment Show.

ADIB, the recipient of the ‘Best Emiratisation CEO’ award in 2011 in recognition of its continued commitment to Emiratisation, will be looking to Tawdheef to add to its employee roster of UAE Nationals.

“We do not have an upper limit on the number of hires we will make at Tawdheef,” said Waheeb Al Khazraji, Head of Human Resources at ADIB. “We will seek out high quality, confident individuals who want to develop a successful career in the fast growing Islamic banking industry.

“We have a large number of positions available for the right candidates as well as the appropriate career development programmes to help them along their career paths. A career in finance is increasingly important to UAE Nationals, with the growth trajectory rapid and the learning curve steep.”
Banking is one of the major industries represented at Tawdheef Recruitment Show. Hayete Jemai, Exhibition Director of the show said: “A career in finance allows UAE Nationals to make a positive contribution to the growth and development of the UAE economy and society. Tawdheef is an important stage for banks to educate about this rewarding and lucrative career path.”

Presented by Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council and organised by Informa Exhibitions, Tawdheef Recruitment Show is the UAE’s leading recruitment event that supports Emiratisation. Only companies with immediately available positions for UAE Nationals will take part.

These include platinum sponsors Abu Dhabi Police and the UAE Presidential Guard, gold sponsors Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), ADNOC and Etisalat, and silver sponsors Etihad Airways, the Telecoms Regulations Authority (TRA) Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), and Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC). Abu Dhabi Airports Company has signed up as registration sponsor.

The first two days of Tawdheef Recruitment Show is reserved for Emirati job seekers only, with the final day open to all other nationalities. From 11am – 2pm on 1st February 2012 is for ladies only. Pre-registration is available online at www.tawdheef.ae.
