Abu Dhabi University’s 3rd Emiratisation Forum

Decision makers and human resource experts meeting at the 3rd Annual Emiratisation Forum are set to tackle issues relating to the challenges that face Emiratisation in many sectors of the UAE’s workforce and the best techniques of boosting Emiratisation through better education, careers guidance, training and talent management. Entitled “Developing Nationals and Support for Nation Building”, the two-day forum set to launch on the 23rd of October, is organized by Abu Dhabi University’s Knowledge Group (ADU) and hosted by Aim Events, the conference and events division of ADU, with “Etihad Airways” as a platinum sponsor and “Shirlaws” as the forum’s gold sponsor.

Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University explained that government officials and heads of leading organizations from across the UAE attending the forum, will address the key challenges that face Emiratisation as determined by extensive research into the subject. These challenges include increasing the number of Emiratis attracted to a role in their company, managing their talent by providing career development counseling and training, as well as addressing the pay and benefits differentials between the public and private sectors and ways of attracting the younger generation of Emiratis to non-traditional but critical employment roles.

According to Dr. Ahmed Badr, CEO of Abu Dhabi University’s Knowledge Group, despite of the great progress that has been made, we still have a lot to do in order to achieve the goals and objectives of Emiratisation. “One of the factors that will contribute to achieving our goals is educating organizations on the importance of investing in human resources. Their role shouldn’t stop at only recruiting nationals but evolve to include methods of assessing, retaining and developing Emiratis in a productive environment that allows them to realize their career goals”, said Dr. Badr.

He pointed out that the forum offers a series of specialized interactive workshops that address several vital topics, including: creating apprenticeship schemes to provide Emiratis with skills and experience to participate in the success of their organizations, providing companies with the keys of competing to retain their Emirati talent, using engagement surveys as a method of increasing Emirati engagement and retention, and the secret to managing Emirati talents.

Riad Mannan, Director of AIM Events at Abu Dhabi University’s Knowledge Group noted that participants in the 3rd Annual Emiratisation Forum will get the opportunity to develop practical solutions to the challenges that still face Emiratisation, and fulfill the vision of the country’s leaders as well as support Nation building.

“The 3rd Emiratisation Forum will provide an excellent platform for delegates from the private and public sectors to come together and hear from key policy makers in government bodies on the progress of Emiratisation and what further practical steps need to be taken”, said Mannan.

“Given the resurging economic conditions in the UAE, Emiratising your organization can be a major driver for company growth as well as developing human capital in this country,” he concluded.

The 3rd Annual Emiratisation forum is also sponsored by “Schlumberger” and “EmiratiJOBS.ae” as a media partner.
