Zayed Future Energy Prize: Submissions close on September 19, 2011

Zayed Future Energy Prize, the world’s preeminent award for innovation, leadership, long-term vision, and impact in renewable energy and sustainability, announced that the submissions process for the 2012 edition will be closed on September 19, 2011.

The award which offers a total prize fund of US$4 million – the world’s largest annual prize purse for renewable energy solutions and sustainability, has already received an outstanding number of entries, drawing participants from 80 countries from around the world: North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, India, China and Australia.

The 2012 Prize features three categories: Small-to-Medium size Enterprises (SME) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), Large Corporations and Individuals that put forward innovative projects with the potential to create a positive impact on the greatest global energy challenges, from climate change and environmental pollution to declining energy resources.

With the topic of sustainability, energy efficiency and CO2 reduction continuing to loom large, those who can offer viable solutions to these and other pressing challenges related to sustainability and renewable energy will need to act fast to be in the run for the 2012 Zayed Future Energy Prize, as submissions come to a close on September 19, 2011.

Winners and finalists in each category will be selected by a distinguished jury and honoured in an Awards Ceremony to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 17 January, 2012.
