Silkor, the region’s premier laser hair removal center, has announced an exciting Ramadan promotion based on increased demand for quality skincare treatments during the Holy Month. The center, which offers a series of skincare and slimming treatments in addition to the laser hair removal services that remain its core business, has launched ‘Essentials of Life’; a course of two facials, one hydrating and one whitening, available as a promotional package. Customers purchasing the package will receive another two identical treatments free of charge, and will automatically enter a draw to win a one night stay at Le Royal Meridién in Abu Dhabi complete with a dinner for two at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Amalfi.

Reporting an increase in consultations for skin issues during Ramadan, Silkor experts say that the sudden change in dietary habits combined with the long period of daily fasting, can have a detrimental effect on the skin, and a proper skincare regime is essential to avoid breakouts, dry patches and dull-looking skin –all symptoms of the dehydration associated with fasting.

In addition to the recommended facials, the Silkor team advises individuals concerned about skincare during the Holy Month to pay particular consideration to their daily basic skincare regime, as even ‘normal’ skin is likely to need more attention whilst fasting. Meticulous cleansing, toning, exfoliating and moisturizing are essential to remove dead skin caused by the lack of water intake, restore skin’s natural mineral levels, and balance the skin’s oil production and natural vitamin E.

Amal Rashkidi, Silkor Corporate Medical Director, also stresses the importance of dietary factors to compliment a structured skincare regime, saying, “The hours of fasting dehydrate the skin so it’s essential to make sure that you rehydrate as well as eat after iftar. We recommend that between iftar and suhoor our clients drink at least eight glasses of water – approximately 2 liters, in addition to any other fluids, as our bodies only absorb 50 to 60 per cent of fruit juice, and just 20 to 30 percent of sodas.

There are also some great power-foods that can repair dehydrated skin – cashews or almonds are packed with healthy fibers, fatty acids and proteins which will maintain the post-facial glow. Likewise, fruits such as strawberries and blueberries are high in anti-oxidants, which are known for their positive effect on healthy skin, and dates are a great source of anti-oxidants, Vitamin A, iron, potassium, calcium, and magnesium that all promote optimum skin health. Apricots (the main ingredient of Qamar El Din) aid in the digestion process, meaning that the body’s ability to make use of these vitamins and minerals is increased”.

In addition to the ‘Essentials of Life’ Ramadan facials, Silkor are also offering a special summer promotion, where customers receive a 1000 AED Silkor voucher with any 10000 AED laser hair removal package purchased. Silkor branches are open from 9am until 9pm in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah (except Fridays).
