Federal public holiday to mark Mawlid Nabawi relayed to 17 February

UAE federal ministries and departments will take Thursday ,17 February 2011, corresponding to 14 Rabea’ Awwal 1432 Hijri as a public holiday to mark the Mawlid Nabawi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), instead of Tuesday, 15 February 2011, corresponding to 12 Rabea’ Awwal 1432 Hijri.

The public holiday been relayed according to a circular today by Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR).

The decision to relay the holiday to Thursday, 17 February is based on Clause 5 of Article 100 of the Cabinet ‘s resolution No. 13/2010 which allows for such a change if a public holiday falls between two working days.

The Minister seized the occasion to express best wishes of good health for President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the UAE Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the emirates and Arab and Islamic countries.
