Education occupies an important place in the UAE, this was according to His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, during his keynote speech at Abu Dhabi Universityâ€™s (ADU) fifth graduation ceremony for 436 students, 188 were postgraduate students while 248 received bachelor degrees, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
Sheikh Nahyan, who is also the Vice President of ADUâ€™s Board of Trustees, said that â€œEducation as an important place is the result of the wise leadership of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who stresses that education is the sure way for the United Arab Emirates to arrive at a prosperous future as a pivotal country that is both effective and influential in all areas of human development and progress.â€
â€œAbu Dhabi University is progressing well in its mission to serve the student, to serve the community and to serve human aspirations everywhere. Abu Dhabi University enjoys the support of the community, having established important partnerships with local and national institutions, and with more than 90% of its graduates employed,â€ he added.
The graduation ceremony, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Rulerâ€™s Representative in the Western Region and President of ADUâ€™s Board of Trustees; was attended by Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan; Sheikh Shakhbut Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan; His Excellency Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health; His Excellency Humaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education; Her Excellency Dr. Maitha Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and ADU Board Member; and His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al Hameri, General Security for Presidential Issues, and a number of ADUâ€™s Board of Trustees Members. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, ADU Chairman of the Executive Board; and Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, ADU Chancellor; and ADUâ€™s academics, department heads and faculty members as well as parents of the graduates have also witnessed the important occasion.
â€œADU continues to offer highly rewarding career oriented undergraduate and graduate degree programmes that are aligned with the needs of the UAE and the 2030 Abu Dhabi Economic Vision. The university strategy not only focuses on serving the communityâ€™s needs but in producing quality graduates who can contribute to the further development of the countryâ€™s economy,â€ Dr. Ibrahim said.
â€œWe are committed to supporting our graduates for their future advancement in their career paths through the help and assistance of the ADU Alumni Association. With the sustainable growth plans of Abu Dhabi’s government, ADU graduates will have a better opportunity to play critical roles in the countryâ€™s development because of the knowledge and practical experiences they have gained throughout their academic lives,â€ Dr. Ibrahim added.
Several students achieving academic excellence were also given awards and recognition during the ceremony. Fadel Rashid Al Mazroui, who received a Masters Degree in Human Resources Management, gave the speech on behalf of the graduating students.
