Frightful and delightful Halloween ideas
Do you find yourself wondering what to do with your family this Halloween? Sometimes it seems like the obvious custom of partying or trick-or-treating just is not going to work for one reason or another. Whatever the reason may be, if a party or trick-to-treating is not an option, there are some alternatives so that children can have a fun Halloween experience.
Scary movie night is always an option. What is better than watching a great scary movie on such a spooky night? This idea does not exclude the younger children either. There are some milder scary or creepy movies, like Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter, Haunted Mansion and more. Children can invite friends over or create a small family event.
Scary sleepover the weekend before Halloween with a scary theme could turn into a pajama party with a flair. All the guests could wear unique costumes or there could be a specific theme (magicians, witches, ghosts, etc.). Plan some entertainment and activities for the kids and have treats available. Make sure that you send invitations in advance so parents and children can prepare themselves for the sleepover. Remember to plan for breakfast since the kids will need something to eat the following morning.
Another idea is to stay in with the children and hand treats to visitors or at the entrance of your building. You can make this fun by getting into costumes, decorating the house, having props and preparing and cooking interesting treats. The children can have specific duties that they find fun or interesting. Make sure that you have a variety of candy or treats for not only your visitors, but also your children.
There is something about Halloween, which really catches the imaginations of children – whatever you choose to do, you can create some lifelong memories along the way.
