Jafza named Logistics Hub of the Year

Economic Zones World (EZW) flagship free zone Jafza was presented with the ‘Logistics Hub of the Year’ award and EZW’s global commitment to CSR was recognised with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the recently held 4th Annual Supply Chain & Transport Awards 2010.

The awards ceremony held in Dubai, brought together hundreds of top executives from the Middle East transportation and logistics industries.

The SCATA 2010 ceremony included 16 categories in total, covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors. The winners were judged by a prestigious panel of industry experts, selected from within the Middle East logistics industry.

Pat McGillycuddy, Chief Operating Officer of Economic Zones World and Tariq Bin Ghalaita, VP Corporate Commercial and Customer Relations accepted the awards on behalf of the company.

Commenting on the awards, Pat McGillycuddy, Chief Operating Officer of Economic Zones World said: “These awards add to Economic Zones World’s crown of achievements and are especially meaningful to us as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Jafza this year. The Jebel Ali Free Zone reached record customer levels of well over 6,400 clients at the end of last year. Jafza has seen uninterrupted year-on-year growth in the number of companies over the past 10 years along with corresponding increase in the number of their employees.

The year 2009 also saw Jafza coming up with a number of value-adding projects and customer-oriented support services, including the innovative Light Industrial Unit-15 (LIU-15), the South Zone Warehouses/Showrooms, the revamped Project Ahlan customer service facility and EZ Post, the exclusive free zone courier service. Furthermore, this year Jafza ISO accreditation for its quality management system has been upgraded to ISO 9001:2008.

Economic Zones World has built and delivered 1.3 million square meters of eco-efficient warehousing already including projects executed by EZW subsidiary Gazeley, global provider of sustainable logistics space.
