Duke University students visit ENOC

Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) hosted a delegation of 30 MBA students from Duke University, one of the Top Ten American universities. The visit was aimed at providing the students with an overview of the UAE’s business dynamics as well as its socio-political and cultural environment.

Senior management from ENOC discussed various aspects of the company including its history, operations and new business opportunities. The discussions outlined the company’s growth potential in the UAE as well as the region.

Yusr Sultan, Chief Executive – Shipping, Terminalling & LPG, ENOC, said: “It is an honour to welcome students from one of the leading global universities to ENOC. We regularly host students from all over the world to provide them with a closer look at Dubai as a business hub and explain to them the growth potential of the UAE and region. We believe it is important for students to be exposed to the real dynamics of local, regional and international business as it gives them a bigger picture of how corporations really work.”

Meryl Marr, a first year MBA Student, said that their visit provided the students with a good understanding of Dubai’s growth as a centre for business and trade, in addition to valuable insight to the oil and gas industry. “I was impressed with the openness with which ENOC presented its business strategies. For me, as a brand management student, it was interesting to understand how ENOC serves customers from different cultures, how it chooses its merchandising mix, and how it made popular the idea of convenience stores in the UAE and the region.”

The visit was part of the students Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE) course wherein students study the business, culture, economy, and politics of a country or region. The MBA students will also be visiting Abu Dhabi and Istanbul.
