UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition inaugurated

H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of Dubai Health Authority inaugurated this morning, the fourteenth edition of the UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai 2010), at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition centre. His highness Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied with a number of ministers and local and international representatives from 120 countries during the opening ceremony along with heads of delegates and in the presence of Roberto Vianna, president of FDI.

Following the traditional inauguration ceremony and the ribbon-cutting, H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid had a tour in the exhibition area, and explored the latest medical devices, technologies and equipments displayed by over 800 specialised companies from 65 countries, some of these latest technologies are displayed for the first time during AEEDC Dubai, especially after it has successfully been ranked fifth worldwide in dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, according to the International Dental Manufacturers.

His highness was impressed by the annual growth that AEEDC Dubai achieves every year, and was delighted by the number of companies participating in the exhibition in addition to the number of dentists participating in the conference, which is estimated to reach 20,000 dentist. He also said that this tremendous turnout reinforces the role of Dubai as a regional hub for major international companies who are looking forward to promoting their products from Dubai to the Middle East and the world market.

Moreover, H.E Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General – Dubai Health Authority assured that 20,000 doctors, participants and trade visitors are expected to participate in AEEDC Dubai from all parts of the world, and this is a proof in itself of the continuous success of AEEDC Dubai in general and also emphasizes Dubai’s leading role in the exhibitions and conferences industry, as well as in trading and economy.

H.E also said “the UAE international Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition(AEEDC Dubai) is a great opportunity for all dentists and decision makers in the private and public sectors, as it cater their needs of all medical equipments and services displayed by major international companies.”

Al Murooshid also reassured that Dubai Health Authority will continue to support all medical conferences and events in the UAE, and he said that; “Medical conferences and exhibitions reflects good revenue on all sectors in the country, including economic, trade, tourism and other sectors, which motivates the economy and development to move forward, and develop the skills and capabilities in both sectors. AEEDC Dubai is a non missing chance for UAE, Arab and international dentists to observe latest international scientific researches in Dentistry, and exchange expertise with a huge number of doctors.”

H.E. also mentioned that AEEDC Dubai is one of the world most prestigious events in terms of the number of participants at the conference and the exhibition. He also assured that this high turnout enhances the status of Dubai as a regional hub for all international oral health companies looking to market and promote their products in the region through Dubai.

The scientific program for AEEDC 2010 includes variety of new activities including the advanced speciailty courses, the AEEDC International Orthodontic Meeting and the GCC meeting. The advanced speciality courses will provide advanced and updated theoretical and methodological approaches concerning the topics of the specialty, and systematic and comprehensive knowledge on the main and current theories in regards to different subjects of interest. It will also enhance the practical expertise of the dental specialists and build a knowledge platform among qualified specialists across the globe; they are also an opportunity to gain extra CME points.

Dr. Tariq Khoory, the Director of the Dental Department at the Dubai Health Authority stated that “AEEDC Dubai 2010 is to introduce a number of new specialties in dentistry in addition to a lot of new scientific activities included within the program.”

He continued; “We are focusing on having diversity of topics during the conference this year, as we are trying to create new dimensions in the dental field in the UAE and the region”.

Dr. Tariq continued, “We are now preparing for AEEDC’s fourteenth edition, and we are hosting new specialised conferences that will be held in conjunction with AEEDC Dubai conference, mainly the First AEEDC International Orthodontic Meeting and the GCC Preventive Dentistry Conference”.

He also mentioned that the Dubai Health Authority always supports all vital medical events, and encourages all dentists to take part in this outstanding event, and he continued “Dubai Health Authority gives full support to AEEDC Dubai as we work hard to emphasize the healthcare sector in Dubai on both regional and International levels, and AEEDC Dubai is the perfect venue to realize this approach, especially that the participants number is accelerating every year”.

Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, President of Index Holding and Executive Chairman of AEEDC Dubai said “AEEDC Dubai emphasizes the integration of various elements of success, in terms of economic, trade, health, tourism which will motivate the country’s economy because of its great economic returns.”

AEEDC Dubai is the largest event in the MINA Region; and was defined by the World Dental Federation FDI as the fifth largest conference and exhibition of its kind in the world. Mr. Al Madani also mentioned that the overall space of AEEDC exhibition is more than 20.000 Square meters with 25% increase in space compared to last year. Participants have also increased by 25% percent, as we are expecting more than 20.000 Dentist and oral health specialist to attend the scientific courses and activities from more than 65 countries.
