Flying Dutchman brings a class of his own to Dubai
Robin Van Persie, the Arsenal star known for his bullet shot, has jetted into Dubai to share some of his explosive talent with young soccer hopefuls.The Fly Emirates Dutchman did just that as he travelled at around 900 kilometres per hour aboard an Emirates’ 777-200LR from London Heathrow to Dubai.
The Gunners’ forward is in town today to conduct special sessions with the Arsenal Soccer School Dubai at 7he Sevens, Emirates’ dedicated sporting venue.
The Arsenal Soccer School is a joint venture between Emirates and Arsenal where coaches offer boys and girls, of all ages and abilities, the opportunity to play the ‘Arsenal Way’.
As well as getting the VIP treatment by his airline hosts, the Dutch national player also learnt more about a new Emirates’ goal – to launch flights to his home country of the Netherlands. A daily service between Amsterdam and Dubai will kick off on 1st May.
Boutros Boutros, the carrier’s Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, said of the flying visit: “This is another example of Arsenal and Emirates being very well matched. Not only will Robin’s visit help inspire young footballers, his energy and innovation as a player reflects our approach to business, and of course the way we will approach our Amsterdam launch.”
It was back in 2004 when Emirates broke the sponsorship sound barrier with Arsenal by signing the biggest club sponsorship deal in English football history, which included naming rights to Arsenal’s home, Emirates Stadium. The international airline of the UAE is also an Official Partner of the FIFA World Cup™.
