Emiratisation Employer Forum – accelerating the development of a national Emiratisation framework
Presented by Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council (ADTC), the Emiratisation Employer Forum, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, reaffirms the Council’s role in helping to deliver programmes and mechanisms to meet the human resource needs of the private sector through the sustainable employment of Emiratis.
As part of this process, the Emiratisation Employer Forum will be held on the 25th and 26th of January, 2010 at Fairmont, Bab Al Bahar, Abu Dhabi. Focusing on the theme “Private Sector Emiratisation for Economic Prosperityâ€, the forum, organised by the Abu Dhabi University, will provide private sector employers and government representatives with a platform to discuss ways in which successful Emiratisation policies can be developed.
Together with the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi, Western Region Development Council, Eastern Region Development Committee and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the forum will bring together key speakers and participants from public and private sector organisations.
“Since its establishment, the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council has created various initiatives for jobseekers and private sector employers, each designed to develop and strengthen the Emirati workforce, ensuring that it meets the demands of a growing economy. Engaging with employers, hearing their views and learning from their experiences helps us to support them by developing further initiatives and programmes that improve employment opportunities for Emiratis in the private sector,†said H.E. Abdullah Saeed Al Darmaki, General Manager, ADTC.
“The Emiratisation Employer Forum will give the private sector an opportunity to convey to us their current and future human resource requirements per industry, job grade and occupation. It also gives us an opportunity to share information on policy proposals in order to help shape government initiatives designed to improve the overall Emiratisation programme,†furthered Al Darmaki.
The two-day conference reinforces a number of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision objectives, including empowering Emiratis to help drive the UAE capital to becoming one of the leading economies in the world.
Through a series of networking sessions and interactive workshops, delegates will be able to discuss their Emiratisation experiences with fellow private sector business leaders and public sector stakeholders. Workshops will focus on important issues such as the recruitment, retention, motivation, performance and progression of Emiratis.
Future growth scenarios for the next five to ten years and current Emiratisation levels in different organisations as presented by the Deloitte report, including sector specific information from the Department of Economic Development’s five-year Economic Development Plan, will also be discussed. Local and regional businesses will be provided with a deeper understanding of the key principles of employee motivation leading to increased attraction and retention of Emiratis.

Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council was established in December 2005 (Decree No. 30 in 2005), through the efforts of the President of UAE and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Led by its vision to ‘achieve full sustainable employment for Emirati job seekers’, the council advises the Abu Dhabi government on policies and mechanisms to expand and build a sustainable Emirati workforce, especially in the private sector. These policies are implemented with support from different governmental departments and agencies. In partnership with employers, especially in the private sector, Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council ensures that effective human resource development plans are mapped and aligned with the strategy and economic plan of the Abu Dhabi government.
