The Palace – The Old Town celebrates festive season in style
The Palace – The Old Town has decked up for the festive season with an array of events which cater for families, singles, the young and the old. The celebrations flagged off with the lighting of the hotel’s ornate Christmas tree and will conclude on December 31 with a New Year’s Eve party to remember.
Other events and offers for the festive season include a chance to meet Santa, festive afternoon teas, story telling and a Teddy Bear’s tea for the children, festive brunches, special spa offers, a Christmas Eve dinner, cookery lessons on how to make the perfect Christmas Dinner, Christmas turkey take-aways and a night to remember on New Year’s Eve with various set meals and a spectacular party to welcome in 2010.
Edouard Grosmangin – Executive Assistant Manager, The Palace – The Old Town said: “The festive events for 2009 have been carefully selected to ensure that there is something fun for everyone. The exclusive New Year’s Eve Dinner on our Private Rooftop is a new feature this year, and guests can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere overlooking the iconic Burj Dubai and The Dubai Fountain.â€
The tree lighting ceremony was an evening to remember as guests and visitors were treated to complimentary home-made hot chocolate, gingerbread and other festive delicacies, and Santa made a guest appearance with a bag of candies for the children.
The Teddy Bear’s tea, organised in association with Volunteer in Dubai, a charity association, was a poignant affair with the participants donating Teddy bears to underprivileged children. Children sang along with the hotel’s choir, took pictures with Santa and enjoyed story time.
In addition to these events and activities, the hotel also offers a special festive spa package that includes a relaxing footbath with water, peppermint oil and rose petals; and a hydrating Carita facial followed by a traditional massage. The offer includes a day’s access to the spa’s facilities, steam room, Jacuzzi and outdoor pool. The offer is valid daily from 9am to 10pm for AED 750 per person.
For those who love to indulge in festive foods, The Palace – The Old Town offers an array of festive food and beverages including chestnuts, sandwiches, cakes and pastries for its afternoon tea festive special. Afternoon tea is served in the lobby lounge for AED 120 per person, every day from 3pm – 6pm. The hotel also organises a weekly traditional festive brunch at Ewaan Restaurant every Friday from 12.30pm – 4pm. The brunch is also available on December 24 and 25.
Deciding where and what to eat over the festive season is a tough decision for any family. In addition to offering Jolly Cooking Classes led by Asado restaurant’s head chef, The Palace – The Old Town has three great choices for turkey lovers.
For those who prefer to enjoy their festive meal in the comfort of their own home without the fuss of cooking, The Palace – The Old Town offers a festive Turkey to take-away for up to 12 guests. This comes with all the trimmings including cranberry sauce, gravy, roast potatoes and traditional stuffing. For guests who prefer to eat out, the festive countdown will begin on December 24 at 7pm at Asado, Thiptara and Ewaan, with a choice of either an à la carte menu or buffet.
The Private Rooftop at The Palace – The Old Town is home to one of the finest yet most exclusive restaurants in the city. With views of Burj Dubai and The Dubai Fountain, it will offer a set New Year’s Eve menu inclusive of selected beverages for AED 2,000 per person and will cater for one lucky group of up to 10 persons. The Private Rooftop can also be booked for intimate dinners for two at other times of the year.
Other New Year’s Eve Dinners at The Palace – The Old Town include set menus at both Asado and Thiptara and a buffet at Ewaan. As part of the evening’s entertainment a magician will regale guests in all three restaurants. This will be followed by a New Year’s Eve Party at Ewaan with a belly dancing performance at the venue, which all hotel guests can join to welcome in 2010.
