GETMO Arabia offers oriental remixes as downloads
New hit remixed by Middle Eastern DJs & available for download @ GETMO.com
Six unique remixes of the chart-topping title track from Shakira’s new body of work, She Wolf, will be available for download on GETMO.com a week before the album’s official release. In a Regional exclusive, the Middle East’s first multi-platform all-in-one digital entertainment service is partnering with Sony Music to offer its users the opportunity to download the remixes from 7th October 2009, six days before the album’s global release date.
The tracks include the “Sphinx Mix” from Egyptian DJs Fahmy and Samba, the Club mix from Lebanese DJ Said Mrad, the Mindloop Collective remix from Dubai-based artists Ali Ajami, Ahmad Ghanoum and Michael Daniel and the Beirutbiloma mix from renowned Lebanese producer Mohamad Kebbe. Each track has been mixed to reflect sounds and styles unique to the origins of the DJs and producers adding a distinctively Middle Eastern touch to the hit single.
“These remixes are a fitting tribute not only to Shakira’s Middle Eastern origins but also to the burgeoning musical scene in the Region, which boasts world class talent,” said Craig Pereira, Director, Marketing and Digital Business Development, Sony Music Entertainment. “Our decision to partner with GETMO Arabia was only natural considering our longstanding relationship and the portal’s popularity amongst our audiences in the region.”
The collaboration between Sony Music and GETMO Arabia is the latest in a series of developments for the portal, whose subscribers can download songs, music videos, ringtones, video tones, wallpapers, movie trailers, games and animated videos to their mobile phone or computer. GETMO Arabia, a joint venture between Arvato Mobile Middle East (AMME) and the Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), gives its users access to high quality & legal film and music downloads, including the archives of record labels such as Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music, Melody entertainment and Mazzika with innovative pricing packages.
“We are proud to have been selected by Sony Music Entertainment as the exclusive partner to launch these pre-releases,†said Scott Weeman, General Manager, GETMO Arabia. “Since its launch just over one year ago, GETMO Arabia has filled an important need for a digital entertainment portal dedicated to the region, by providing the latest content that our subscribers want to see and hear. As the largest digital downloads portal in the Middle East we are continuously looking at ways to give our subscribers access to the latest regional and international content.â€
The highly anticipated new album features “Did It Againâ€, “Gypsy” and the hit “She Wolf†which Shakira both co-wrote and co-produced. A special “Oriental Edition†will be released in the Middle East featuring the exclusive remixes of Said Mrad, Fahmy & Samba, Mindloop Collective and Beirutbiloma. She Wolf marks the artists’ third English-language release. Shakira boasts a string of chart-topping hits in both English and Spanish and sales of over 50 million records. Her last project, Oral Fixation Volumes 1&2, has sold in excess of 8 million albums worldwide with the singles La Tortura and Hips Don’t Lie having earned over 10 million digital downloads.
