Tannoura show thrills shoppers at Al Mulla Plaza
With the beginning of Dubai Summer Surprises 2009, residents and visitors can watch numerous international performers at shopping malls across Dubai all during the summer till August 14. The Egyptian Tannoura show is one among the attractions being hosted by several malls this DSS.
Famous for its similarity to the ‘whirling dervishes’, the tannoura is a centuries-old Egyptian dance form featuring performers who spin in circles from anywhere between a few minutes to almost an hour and more. During DSS, a six-member team is performing two shows of half-an-hour each till July 8 at various malls.
The group performed at Al Mulla Plaza on June 17, and will perform at the Gold and Diamond Park on June 19 (7:30pm and 9pm); at Mazaya Centre on June 20 (6:30pm and 7:30pm); at Al Manal Mall on June 22 (6:30pm and 7:40pm); and at Mazaya Centre on June 23 (6:30pm and 7:40pm).
