More records broken in the Guinness World Record pavilion at Global Village
Global Village, a member of Tatweer Dubai and the much celebrated tourism destination in Dubailand, is known for its creative concepts of entertainment. In its ongoing 13th annual edition, the Guinness World Record Pavilion is dedicated to park goers who want to try the exciting opportunities to take part and set new records in various categories. This pavilion not only aims to entertain but also aspires to challenge the participants thus making the whole experience unforgettable.
As of 03 February 2009, there were about 70 records continuously set and broken in the Global Village. The final records in the pavilion are hopeful to be accounted for in the Guinness Book of World Records right after the end of this edition of Global Village. Guests are allowed to try different types of records to break that include most beads threaded, most number of socks sorted, most sand moved in 30 seconds, most banknotes counted in 1 minute, most number of basketball free-throws in 1 minute, fastest text message in English and Arabic, fastest number typing, fastest M&M chocolate sorting using chopsticks, most clothes pegs held in one hand, longest coin spin, fastest game of operation, most shoelaces tied in 1 minute, most CDs flipped In 1 minute, loudest shout, loudest scream, loudest clap and loudest whistle.
Currently, the following are the posted Record Hall of Fame in the pavilion: 18.59 seconds by Abdullah Saeed for Game of Operations, 25 baskets by Zeehao Huang for Basketball, 120 notes counted in a minute by Mohammed Zeeham for the Banknotes category, 54.41 seconds by Yousuf Ahli in Text Messaging English Typing, 40.47 seconds by Ali Jaffar Al Ansari for the Text Messaging Arabic Typing, 17.37 seconds by Aisha Khalid in Number Typing, 40 pegs by Ahmed Bin Darwesh for Cloth Pegs category, 21 shoes tied in one minute by Khaled Abdul Aziz in Shoelace category, 51 CDs flipped in a minute by Mohammed Rohail, 10.68 seconds used to spin a coin done by Asma Yousuf, 31.50 seconds to sort M&M chocolates that was done by Yinger Guan Wing, 29 beads sorted in one minute by Erma Glogdove for Beads Threading category, 16 pairs of socks sorted by Kristina Ilieva, and 194 ml of sand sifted by Majid Ibrahim, among a few more.
The Guinness World Record Pavilion, which is strategically located in front of the Global Village Lake, is comprised of booths allotted for each challenging category.
