A new social initiative to take care of well-being of the future generations was announced here today by Minister of Social Affairs H.E. Maryam Al Roumi, reported the Emirates News Agency WAM.
Al Roumi announced the creation of the ”Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Society for Future Generations”, a brainchild of Dr. Shama bint Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan, during a symposium organised by the ministry.
An audience of senior government officials, artists, singers, representatives of children organisations and media personalities discussed adraft bill on children’s rights.
The bill spells out the basic human rights that children have and protects children’s rights by setting standards in health care; education; and legal, civil and social services.The bill also gives attention to the rights of children with disabilities and special needs.
The draft law calls on the UAE government to take necessary measures to ensure protection of children from any forms of discrimination and undertake all actions and policies in the light of the best interests of the child.
