Iftar for the media
Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met here this evening with the chief editors and representatives of UAE-based local and foreign newspapers, news agencies and satellite channels, reported the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
During the meeting, which was attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler ‘&’ Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, Sheikh Mohammed exchanged Ramadan greetings with the media men.
Members of the media fraternity expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed for hosting this customary gathering during the Holy month of Ramadan.
They praised his vision for the media and its active role in the development process and in reflecting the image of the UAE. They also referred to the numerous initiatives by Sheikh Mohammed, including the recent move to provide protection and treatment for people suffering from blindness and other eye diseases.
The journalists also thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his directives to build a permanent headquarters for the Journalists Association. They also commended his decision banning imprisonment of journalists for reasons related to discharge of their professional duties and to establish the Mohammed bin Rashid Media College at the American University of Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed hosted an Iftar for the media fraternity and other guests.
Present were H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture ‘&’ Arts Foundation, H.E. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, H.E. Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour ‘&’ Chairman of the National Media Council, Ahmed Abdullah Al Shaikh, Media Escort to His Highness the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of Dubai Protocol Department.
